Don't fall over.  Or faint.  I'm updating the blog.  Wow.  I know.

So, 2011.  I didn't even post on this blog in 2011.  Hmmm.

Basically, we had a baby.  And we bought a new house.  And that about sums up why I didn't post on my blog in 2011.  But it's all good.  Great, in fact.

Back for more later :)

Ever since we took Luke out of his crib, we haven't really had a problem with him staying in bed.  He gets up sometimes, but always gets back into bed before he falls asleep.  Lately, though, he has been sleeping in all sorts of weird places.  We have found him between the cribs, under the bumper pads, behind the door...he seems to like small, enclosed spaces.  It's like he's the opposite of claustrophobic.

Last night, I put them in bed at 8:30.  I could hear Emily walking around, playing, and generally just not sleeping for quite a while.  At about 10 (!) I went in there to put her back in her bed, and stepped on something soft and fleecy.  It was Luke's pajamas.  Laying right next to his diaper.  Meaning he was naked.  In bed.  NAKED.  Totally asleep, all spread-eagle, not even covered up.  I put a diaper and his jammies back on and covered him  up.  He didn't even wake up.  I put Em back in bed and called it a night.

Luke woke up a little before 4:30, crying.  When I opened the door, I picked him up and he said "machine on." I don't think he was even awake.  Then he said "Hi!" and "I need tatties (his little giraffe blankets)"  I put him in bed and went looking for the tatties, which is no easy feat when you're sound asleep and it's pitch black and you're trying to not wake up the other kiddo.  I finally found the blanket that he sleeps with in the closet.  Warm.  Like he had been ASLEEP IN THE CLOSET!!!  I covered him back up, again, and he slept until 9:30 this morning.

And just now, when I got him up from his nap, he had slept in the closet again!  In this snazzy get-up:

No pants.  Socks.  Boots on the wrong feet.  Awesome.

So it looks like we have a little nudist-in-the-making.  Or a sleepwalker.  Goodness, can you imagine if it's both??!?  We could have a nekkid toddler roaming the house by night!  Well, roaming his room at least.  He can't get out of his room at night anymore, thanks to a childproof door knob that was put in place after Scott found him wandering around one night with the plunger, muttering about the Wiggles.  But that's a story for a different day...

One of those days...

It's 11:00 and it's already been one of those days!

Emily is in a no-sleeping phase.  Which I really don't get and REALLY don't appreciate.  She has woken up before 7 every morning this week, which might seem late to some, but is early around here...they usually sleep until 8 or after.  Last night she went to bed fine, but we could hear her in there talking and playing until AFTER 10:30.  And of course, she woke up about 6:45 this morning.  Which makes for a tired, cranky kiddo who has been crying for most of the morning.  I'm hoping for an early nap and a very early bedtime!!!

Luke has been, essentially, potty training himself.  He comes to me about 10 times a day, without a diaper, telling me he has to go potty.  And he goes.  Every single time.  It's really laziness on my part that has kept us from just doing it, but I'm thinking it's time.  I can't ignore the nekkid buns much longer :)

Scott's car has been leaking coolant, so he took mine to work this morning.  At least, he took it about a block before it died on him.  ??!?!?  Soooo...I guess we'll be fixing both cars in the near future!

I finally got to take a quick shower a few minutes ago, so things are looking up!!!  Just an hour until lunch and then nap time!!!  Hope your days are going much smoother than mine!!!

We took the kiddos to see Santa today.  They were so excited!!!  They talked about it all last night, and this morning, and all the way there, and in line...and then we got to Santa.  Luke totally stopped in his tracks, and refused to sit on his lap.  Emily screamed her head off and clung to Scott's neck like we were trying to throw her off a cliff or something.  Santa made ME sit on his lap (barf!) in hopes that it would calm everyone down...Luke sat on my lap but Emily was still glued to Scott.  The plus side is that there is a Santa picture of me at exactly the same age screaming my head off :)  But all in all, not the cheery, happy holiday experience I was envisioning.

We put the kiddos down for their naps and I gleefully went off to the grocery store by myself.  (I try to go by myself if AT ALL POSSIBLE because the last time I took the kids to the grocery store Luke cancelled the entire transaction by pushing random buttons on the credit card machine while I was chasing Emily down.  ahem.)  The store was PACKED and there was lots of crimson and gray...but I was pleased to see a few Husky fans as well :)

I hadn't been to the store in a while, what with all the snow and ice and general busy-ness that has been going on around here, and my cart was pretty full.  While I was unloading, the lady behind me said to her husband, "Why would anyone buy so much food?  They must be preparing for a storm!  But there isn't a storm coming! I don't think I've ever seen so many groceries!  Look at all that bread!"  To be fair, I did have several coupons that were about to expire, so I was stocking up on cereal and a few other things, but I only had 2 loaves of bread.  Scott said they probably weren't talking about me, but it seemed pretty obvious...especially since she later said, "of COURSE she has coupons too!  *grumpy huffy sigh*"  It was actually pretty funny.  I wonder if it was her first time at Wal-Mart.

I tried to buy a coupon card thingy from a cute little guy selling them for the local high school wrestling team, but he didn't have any change.  Poor guy, he was really disappointed.  It was cold out there.

We are staying in tonight, listening to the Apple Cup on the radio and then having a pizza movie night after we put the kids to bed.  Happy Saturday!

You know you're a mom when... get excited over who is going to be on Sesame Street.  Jeff Gordon?  Brendan Fraser?  Awesome!

And don't forget cameo appearances by Dale Wormhardt Jr. and Carrie Underworm :)
